Antique French Miniature Wooden Chest of Drawers Apprentice Piece - Late 19thC. Acquired very recently in France, what are commonly referred to as apprentice pieces or a workshops sampler. This particular set of drawers is very well made, professionally done I'd say, definitely not amateur. It has four drawers, all slide easily, the top one is slimmer/less in height than the three below. Quite an elegant set, Georgian in style, sits on bracket feet, looks to be 1880 ish in date.
Has good signs of age & a nice patina, the original stain is faded in places but no significant issues & it is solid & stable, no movement in the joints. The knobs on the bottom drawer are metal replacements, all others look original, are turned wood, top left one has half missing - see photo. A decorative & very usable piece, perfect in a bedroom for jewellery etc. Height 42cm x 35cm wide x 18cm deep.
