This late Victorian piece from the late 1800s has been designed and finished on all four sides, so it can be placed out in the room, as well as against a wall. It has two locking doors with wavy glass that open to reveal two nice-size bookshelves. Under the locking roll top is the desktop itself, with alcoves and niches for gift cards, CDs, pens, etc. And there is definitely room for a wireless notebook. The key, locks, and knobs are original. Below the desktop is a pullout board on the left, handy for writing a quick note when the desktop is in use. There are two drawers; below the left drawer is a swinging, locking door that hides three smaller drawers, and below the right drawer is another swinging, locking door that hides file partitions.

The four sturdy legs have withstood the test of time, and still support the desk as intended. There are two small dots of white paint on the right forward leg. The desk is currently being stored in a carpeted, temperature-controlled, non-smoking, pet-free location.

The sections will separate for easy moving. The roll top lock says "Grand Rapids Desk Co" and it must be unlocked for that part of the desk to come apart from the bottom. We'll send the key along, wrapped and secured, in one of the drawers. If you need the name of several reliable carriers, we can provide that information. Sometimes all of that occurs within a few days, and other times it's four to six weeks.
