With first generation, original dry ox blood red paint and original, antique brass latch door hardware.
Found in southern New Hampshire. This very nice, three-shelf, painted pine softwood Ame ri can folk art wooden store display enclosed upright case, would've been appropriate for a mercantile setting, such as a local grocer or bakery, where baked or store product could have been displayed, protected and visible for folks to view before purchasing. In what would have to be described as nearly undiminished, old oxblood red paint, the wooden display case was most likely conceived here in New England sometime before to shortly after the US Civil War, being a mid-19th century painted piece of woodenware and furniture accessory, circa 1850 to 1875. The glass on the door looks to have been previously replaced at some juncture , with a new pane replacing what would have been a wavy, bubbled piece of original glass. All else is original and intact, with 100% original surfaces and original paint.
A blast from the 19th century past. From New Hampshire with love. Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
