A late 17th century oak chest on stand having a wonderful rich colour and patination. The chest consists of 4 drawers with heavily molded fronts and later 18th century brass handles, with the drawers separated by bull nose moldings. The sides of the chest have plain double panels, the top of the chest having an applied Ogee molding supporting the outer edge of the plank top.
The original heavily molded stand having a single plain drawer above five finely shaped legs, which almost look like music notes. The the legs are joined by concave shaped stretchers and are in turn supported by small turned bun feet.
The chest has had some minor wood worm damage in the past commiserate with age, but overall is in very good condition. Height = 130.5 cm (51.4") Width = 99.5 cm (39.2") Depth = 60 cm (23.6).
