Antique Oak Hall Chair Viking Motif Late 19th Century
Oak hall chair, tall back with serpent-entwined Viking mask over a basket-weave carved panel. Boarded seat on scale-carved square tapering legs. Height 41 inches, Depth 14 inches, Length 17 inches. The hall chair was brought to Bemidji, Minnesota from Stockholm, Sweden, in 1974, by Monica Bergengren, and was used in her Bemidji home until her death in 2011. The hall chair originally was from the rural Baltic estate, Svinninge Gard, north of Stockholm, belonging to her father, Ingvar Bergengren, Swedish business entrepreneur and Honorary Consul General to the Philippines.
