This is a wall trunk and a difficult example to find especially in this condition. Made by Eggerman Duguid & Co of Toledo Ohio.
This trunk is in excellent condition, with a original interior, including lift out tray, and decoration plus the manufacturers documentation extolling its. And patent dates of 1885 and 1891. (see photo) You can also tell the interior is original by the fact that the wallpaper tears on the same line as the drying cracks in the underlying wood. The wall trunk was designed to sit flat against the wall (see photo) and could be opened without pulling it away from the wall. Owner it means you could use it as a table against a wall. The one piece back precludes a problem common to dome top trunks of broken hinges. A glass top could be put on the flat top to use it as a table and cedar boards inside in the base would make it ideal storage for woolens. It also has wheels to make it easy to move should you want. Measures 34" long x 23" high x 19 1/2 front to rear. The item "Antique Steamer Trunk mfg late 1890's by Eggerman, Duguid & Co Toledo Ohio" is in sale since Saturday, April 6, 2019.
