A traditional Eastlake, late 19th Century style desk with theability to expand to accommodate desk work, letter writing, hosting papers, ledgers, andbooks with extension flaps on both side which can be folded down to save space. Thedesk opens to reveal letter slots, cubbie holes for storage, drawers, and a covered letterwriting surface. The desk stands on turned wooden trumpet legs in the traditional style ofthe period and has carved decorations in the Eastlake style. The top of the desk featuresa decorated, carved gallery with repeating forms and a closed pediment. The desk isconstructed to be functional, expansive as well as conserve space.
