This gorgeous late 19th early 20th century figural bronzed spelter cupid has been adapted over time and is now in the form of a oil lamp. The cupid is standing on one leg with the other behind on a half sphere which is decorated in a art nouveau style. In one hand the cupid holds a clear glass oil lantern on a decorative base above his head. In the second hand he appears to be holding something which is hard to make out. I think originally he would have been holding a bow and arrow and overtime he has lost his wings. Taking into consideration all his mishaps he is still a gorgeous period piece and would add period charm to your home decoration. Height to Top Of Wick 44 cm (15 3/8). Maximum Width 12.5 cm (12). Diameter of base 9 cm (2 1/2). Approximate Weight 1.638 KG (3.61 lbs). The cupid is in good antique condition with wonderful detailed facial features. As detailed above he has lost his wings and there as been a repair on his ankle please study photo 9 & 10. The cupid would have originally have been stood on a pedestal maybe. The glass bowl is complete and free from chips and cracks.
