THIS PIECE HAS GREAT IDENTIFYING INITIALS AND NUMBERS PAINTED ON IT. THE FRONT AND BACK SHOW THE INITIALS R. THE TOP LOOKS LIKE IS SAYS Q. AND THE SIDES HAVE THE NUMBER 064. I DON'T WANT TO SPECULATE AS TO THE MEANING BUT IT IS A VERY COOL FEATURE ON THIS TRUNK.
I WISH I HAD PROVENANCE BUT THERE IS NO STORY TO GO WITH IT. THE TRUNK DOES NOT SIT PERFECTLY SQUARE. THERE IS SOME SMALL DAMAGE TO THE WICKER HERE AND THERE BUT NOTHING GREAT.
THE LEATHER STRAPS HAVE LONG AGO DISINTEGRATED BUT THE IRON BUCKLES REMAIN. THERE IS A STRAP INSIDE THAT ATTACHES TO THE TOP THAT IS TORN.THE WHOLE THIN=G IS MOUNTED ON 2 SLED LIKE PIECES OF WOOD THAT ACT AS FEET. THAT FOR SURE SAVED THE BOTTOM OF THIS GREAT PIECE. THE IRON HARDWARE IS FANTASTIC ON IT AND EVEN WITH THE LEATHER STRAPS NO PRESENT IT STILL LOOKS AMAZING. THE WHOLE THING IS VERY DUSTY AND DIRTY.
I HAVE VACUUMED IT AND WITH ONLY THE SLIGHTEST OF DAMPNESS OF A CLOTH GAVE IT A WIPE, HOWEVER IT REMAINS FAIRLY DIRTY. IT ACTUALLY LOOKS BETTER IN THE PICS THAN IN PERSON, I DON'T KNOW WHY PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE MORE OF THE DIRT IN THE NOOKS AN CRANNIES THAN YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS.THIS IS AN AWESOME PIECE WITH GREAT IMPLIED HISTORY POSSIBLE WWI TRUNK? THE INITIALS REALLY DO SET IT APART.
PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE PICS AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE. THAT IS OUT OF MY CONTROL. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LOOK AT ALL THE PICS. LOOKING AT ALL THE PICS WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND ITS CONDITION.
IF YOU IGNORE THE INVOICE AND 2 SUBSEQUENT MESSAGES I WILL CONSIDER THAT GROUNDS FOR CANCELLATION.
