Late 1800's Mahogany Dresser Wedding Chest 5 Drawers Hand Carved
Incredible hand carved mahogany piece from the mid to late 1800's. Called a "Wedding Chest" because of the intricate carvings. The two bottom drawers have carved detailing that meets to make a gorgeous wreath in the center. The top drawer directly above it is beautifully carved with a smaller wreath and each of the small drawers beside it has matching details that follow down the sides of the cabinet. Even the drawer pulls (knobs) are beautifully carved. A wonderful attention to detail. Solid mahogany, this is a very heavy piece -- fortunately it is on wheels to make it easy to move. It needs some cleaning as it has been in storage for a very, very long time. The drawers move perfectly and do not catch when moving in or out. There are no major scratches but are small dings as would be expected from a piece that is this old, no repairs or loose legs, but there is a spot on the top that needs attention, please see pictures. This is a piece from the past when workmanship was one of beauty and pride. A one of a kind gorgeous hand carved dresser you can be proud of and hand down for generations. Measures: 58" Long (approx), left to right; 35" high and 25.5 deep. Thank you for reading all this, she is a beauty.
