Lovely, very substantial, antique Hinks oil lamp in an oriental design on a weighted base within, what appears to be, a bronze outer. The height from base to burner top is 43 cm. Please note that the little steel strips that aided snuffing and acted as a safety device, should the lamp tip over, are missing. However, the snuffer still works well, in normal use, without these. The lever is a little worn at the end and can slip out of the sunffer link if handled too robustly.

It is an easy matter to thread it back again in the unlikely event that this occurs. The whole lamp spins on the base and the pedestal ring also spins on the lower base; this does not affect the stability.

I have not attempted to access the centre connecting rod to dismantle the lamp. The font is the drop-in type. The chimney is a "Bear" brand crystal and is sound but is scratched on one side.
