Modernist Glass & Steel Cantilever Drink Table by Marty Smith for DIA

MODERNIST STEEL AND GLASS CANTILEVER DRINK TABLE. Marty Smith for Design Institute of America, model # 431, unmarked, circa 1980 Item # 012XMS02P.

A rather hard to find design by Marty Smith for Design Institute of America, it is his model # 431 drink table. It was designed in gunmetal steel, brass and chrome - the present design is gunmetal, which has beautifully patinated from oxygen and use. The cantilever form allows it to slide against the sofa and create a perfect drink space, while also partnering with a side chair with style and ease.

The curved steel raises into a 1/2 thick slab of glass under a rectangular plate of steel. Measurements: 22 3/8" H x 16" W x 12 D. Condition Report: Steel discolored with some surface wear.
