This is avery rare carlton desk as it is made of Mahogany with 5 legs and has the letter holder slots. The desk has been held in the same family to present date for over 135 years! It is missing a small piece of glazing on the top about 1 inch worth as you can see in the photo. You are welcome to send your appraiser to see the desk as well.

(Late 1700 to early 1800). The following is from the Sothebys report. Carlton House Desk, of mahogany, with mahogany veneer and box stringing, cedar drawer linings, brass letter slots and original brass handles and locks. A very similar Carlton House Desk from Holme Lacy, Herefordshire bearing identical handles was illustrated in "Dictionary of English Furniture" 1924, Vol III/ P. The carefully filed and finished locks are stamped "H & C". Minor repairs to one leg was made in 1902 are the work of Elmer J Bonis, White Plains NY whose label is fixed to the underside.
