A Magnificently Carved Square Marble Topped Stand, late 19th century, China. This stand is quite large and heavy. The wood is the dark wood associated with the rosewood family and typically seen in Chinese furniture.

The marble is in perfect condition. What makes this table exceptional is the degree to which the carving is developed. The foliate carving above the foot is impressively developed from the solid, obviously with much wood carved away. We have others of this type.
