This Victorian wall pocket/paper holder is probably from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The frame is made of an unknown wood with applied gold gilt gesso. The swing down portion is comprised of tin with the original floral paint on it. The backside is made of a black thick cardboard like material (see picture 8). The overall condition of this item is very good original found condition. The wear is consistent and appropriate for the age and use. A very high percentage of the gesso is present with only a slight amount missing on the lower right hand corner of the frame (see picture 9). The swing down portion with the hinges is in very good working condition. The backside is in good condition with the thick cardboard material not quite flattened out (see picture 8). Dimensions are as follows: The back portion is 15 1/2" H x 19 1/2" L. The drop down section is 12"H x 16" L. It extends from the wall about 6 1/2.
