Vintage Globe Oak Wood Catalog Drawer, LATE 1800's

This file drawer is in very good condition. It belonged to my grandfather about the early 1900's. It is in excellent condition as far as the wood and construction go, and the drawer slides smoothly with no problems. It is bigger than most I have seen, 16 3/8" long, 8 3/8" wide, and 6 9/16 tall.

All the joints are tight and sound. It does have a few small spots, but nothing big, and no damage. A little discolored on top at the front, from general use. The Globe-Wernicke Company was formed as a result of the Cincinnati. Based Globe Files Company est.

In 1882 purchasing the Minneapolis. Based Wernicke Company, founded in 1893 by Otto Wernicke, in 1899. The company is best known for their high-end bookcases. Globe Wernicke established factories in the United States. This box was made before the Globe company bought the Wernicke Company in 1899.
