Vintage Late 1920's Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk With Original Trays & Label. Late 1920's Louis Vuitton steamer trunk with stenciled monogram canvas. It features solid brass hardware, latches and locks - and the "LV" monogram is used on all of the brass studs, and "Louis Vuitton" is on the lock, the interior fabric straps and the leather trim.
It is bordered in dark brown leather, which is in good condition - no tears or excessive wear. Like most trunks of this vintage, it is missing its exterior leather strap that wrapped around the center. It retains its original label and serial number (760847) on the interior. Three interior trays, wrapped in their original fine cotton. The top right tray is actually a combination of two - it has a separate insert with two covered accessory compartments, each segmented with removable dividers.
The original owner's monogram is painted onto either end - JWS. Condition: This piece has been stored in a back bedroom, climate controlled, for the last several decades, and is completely original. No polishing, restoration or repair. The canvas extremely clean with some minor issues; there is a small hole at the lower right-hand corner (less than 1), and a few scuffs and minor buckles.
The inside bottom of the trunk shows some staining to the fabric, probably moisture stains. The leather handles are fully intact, one showing some fraying to one end. The exterior wood slats are intact, and held in place by the original small tacks. Structurally without issue, it sits evenly and levelly, and the lid opens and closely smoothly. The trays are solid as well, and fit into each other tightly and neatly. Measurements: 36" wide, 21" deep, 22.5 tall. The item will be delivered directly to your residence or business.
